The Starman

The Ziggy Stardust album cover was shot at 23 Heddon Street on 13 January 1972 — Bowie, ill with flu, stepped outside into the rain and stood under the sign of K. West, a furrier whose directors were not pleased about appearing on a pop album. The Starman bar opened a few doors down in 2022 and has recreated the K. West sign in the basement. There's a Crown Estate commemorative plaque at No. 23 where the original sign was. Check it out on the way in. The bar itself is modern, stylish, and the Bowie connection gives it more character than most of the late-crawl stops.
