The Albany dates to the 1860s and was rebuilt in 1898, though it spent a brief identity crisis as the Fitz & Firkin in 1996 before reverting to its proper name. This is Fitzrovia — the neighbourhood that gave us Orwell and Dylan Thomas — and the pub has a basement venue called the LowDown that hosts comedy and live music. It had a full refurbishment in 2023 that kept the bones intact while widening the beer range. Opens at 11am on Saturdays, so the timing slots in neatly from the Euston Flyer. Don't get comfortable in the basement.
